DECO1800 Reflective Journal

    There is almost 70% of our project has been completed. It is  as far along as I thought because we expect to finish above 60% of the project. Currently, we have completed all the html we need, which means that the skeleton of our website has been developed. Additionally, most functions in the home page, the map page and the detail information page are achieved before our pitch. However, the introduction page and the about us page has not been finished making, as well as this, the game in our website still is not working to date.      In Major Project Part B, I mainly take responsible for prototyping and testing.       The Purpose of this prototype is digitizing the original concept to a website and testing changes differ with the original one. There three major items we wanted to test in prototype B, including foundational functionality, interactive response, user experience.     As for foundational functionality, it plays an essential role in testing. First of all, minimum viable functions we needed to test including clickable buttons/timeline, map/pin preciseness, puzzle game interaction and navigation system.     All of buttons are clickable.     The MVP of my project contains two main parts, namely the basic interface and functionality. As for basic view represented to users, it includes home page, map page, solider and event information page and puzzle game page.        The fundamental functions must be contained:   1. buttons are clickable (start and introduce button on homepage). 2. timeline is clickable (When users select a specific year on timeline, all related events or soldier names should be display on the map according their latitude and longitude). 3. map can be zoom. 4. pin can locate each events position on the map. 5. the puzzle game can be played. 6. navigation bar and go back button can link to the correct page.       Some functions are graceful degradation: 1. the flash and animation for decoration 2. multiple events  is not precise located, because multiple events happened on the same location. 3. time counte...

In this week prototyping section, my team get the feedback we needed.   During the paper prototyping, we keep conversation with our tester. Also, if the user get confuse, we would lead them and teach them how to use this website. After that, I did a simple interview for each tester and used the word document to record the feedback result.   Most of users have no much questions and are able to follow the instruction.    There are many useful suggestions are mentioned in the prototype test.  For the loading surface and home page, s ome testers think c olor scheme is good . However, they suggested  we use more historical photo or m ore colorful to display different event. Also, we c an create a link to Wikipedia for the events.Thirdly, home page button need to be improved.
