Journal 6: Prototype feedback
In this week prototyping section, my team get the feedback we needed.
During the paper prototyping, we keep conversation with our tester. Also, if the user get confuse, we would lead them and teach them how to use this website. After that, I did a simple interview for each tester and used the word document to record the feedback result. Most of users have no much questions and are able to follow the instruction.
There are many useful suggestions are mentioned in the prototype test. For the loading surface and home page, some testers think color scheme is good. However, they suggested we use more historical photo or more colorful to display different event. Also, we can create a link to Wikipedia for the events.Thirdly, home page button need to be improved. Overall, they think our targeted user who is kind of passive and interested on the web would be helpful, but we also need to consider about some self-motivative user.
For introduction page, there is no go back button in our webpage. We need to label it to help user know where to click on. We also need to improve our navigation bar which give user more clear visual guide. For instance, the navigation bat can be clickable to make the introduction system like a neat in order to reduce the time user spend on read the whole page.
For map based page, timeline should be more specific. For example, date can show on the timeline bar. The benefit of this is that it can help user easily going with the map. Map interface should be more interactive and information should be more detailed. Otherwise, user is confused about the MORE DETAIL page.
For game page, it is a Simple game and users can understand what they to do. Many testers complete the puzzle game easily. Therefore, this game needs to be improve and make it more interesting. I plan to add a time count function and a movement count into the game. The player who use less time and move less number of puzzle to finish the game can get higher marks. After,they finish the game, their personal best record will be display on the screen.
The experience in testing other people's prototype. This provides a good opportunity to exchange learning. I can understand the advantages and disadvantages of other people's concepts. Then, giving them some advise for improving their project or learn some ideas from their concepts can benefit both groups. When I give some good advice and the other people strongly agrees with me, I will find it very successful. However, I met some frustrations when I measured the other group of prototype. For example, I can not understand exactly how those web pages are used. Then they need to explain the use of their website again.
